FAQ Brow Tattoo Edition

Brow tattooing isn’t new but the results are still amazing! We understand that booking a brow tattoo session can be a daunting process. To help you navigate the process, we’ve written a list of our most frequently asked brow tattoo questions. Of course, any questions you have can also be answered in your initial one on one consult with our brow technician at either our Perth or Melbourne Brow Studio.

Let’s start with our most commonly asked question.

Is Brow Tattooing painful?

Although pain tolerance differs from client to client, you’ll be surprised that it’s not as bad as you are anticipating. Most people liken it to a cat scratch or irritation. At Alison Jade Brow studios, we use a numbing cream prior to application to help with the irritation.

How permanent is Brow Tattoo?

Brow tattooing is not the same as a body tattoo. Cosmetic tattooing is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure. Brow tattooing will last approximately 1 – 2 years before you will require a touch up (after your 6 week follow up appointment).

The pigment fades over time and the level of fading depends on your skin type and lifestyle.

How do I decide on a shape for my Eyebrow Tattoo?

The shape of your brow tattoo is pre-drawn prior to the actual tattoo application itself. This is when the client can review the drawings to make sure the shape is what they were expecting. It is important to trust your Alison Jade brow technician as they will draw the shape of your brows according to their natural shape and what will best suit your face.

How do I choose a colour for my cosmetic tattoo?

The colour of your brow tattoo will depend on the technique in which it is applied – Ombré, Combination or Feather Touch Tattoo. Your technician will again guide you on what will best suit your skin type and face. Remember, your eyebrow tattoo will appear dark at first and fade up to 40% when healed.

What will I look like immediately after my Brow Tattoo session?

Within a few hours of your brow tattoo session, the area may feel a little tender. You may experience some minor swelling/redness for the first 24 hrs. As mentioned above, they will also be quite dark to begin with. It is extremely important to follow your aftercare instructions given to you by your brow technician to ensure the best healed results.

How long will my Brow Tattoo take to heal?

Your eyebrow tattoo will take up to 6 weeks to heal. Within 4-6 weeks of your session, you will be booked in for a follow up appointment. This allows your brow technician to touch up your brows and perfect them.
