Are thin brows back in 2022

Are thin brows back in 2022?

90s trends had a huge revival in 2021 and continue to do so in 2022. The question is brows back in 2022?

Here’s how to make this Y2K brow trend work for you.

From slip dresses to bucket hats, overly lined lips and grunge make up, for the most part 90s trends are palatable. However, there were a few of us left unsure, when thin brows made a red carpet appearance. Most of us have only just grown back our brows after one or two tweezing mishaps!

Before you reach for your tweezers once more, let’s delve into how far this brow trend is willing to go in 2022.

The original thin brow of the 90s

The original thin brow made an appearance in the 90s after the big brows of the 80s (think Brooke shields and Madonna).

The brow look of the 90s is extremely thin and it was often the same diameter the whole way across the brow. There was also a lot more roundness to the brow.

It’s safe to say waxing was fairly popular in the 90s, to maintain the appearance of an overworked thin brow. It was common practice to remove hair from below and above the brow.

Celebrities such as Gwen Stefani, Drew Barrymore and Pamela Anderson were at the forefront of this trend.

Celebrities such as Bella Hadid and most recently Kylie Jenner seem to be creating the illusion of a thinner brow.

The modern thin brow isn’t quite as skinny as the brow of the 90s. It’s more about creating balance and proportion by slimming the brow slightly. Cara Delevingne’s brows are enviable, however they aren’t suited to every face shape.

Today, it’s less about tweezing and waxing your brows into oblivion, and more about focusing on sculpting the natural shape.

How do I create the illusion of thinner brows, without waxing?

You can play with the shape of your brows by using a concealer and brow pencil to alter the shape.

To create the illusion of a more lifted brow, try applying concealer to the tails and drawing them on slightly higher. Try to keep the front of the brows more natural by applying less product and avoiding a block shape.

For a thin, more sculpted brow, you can try strategically placing your brow make up through the centre of your brow. You can also use a brow gel to brush upper hairs down and lower hairs up. This will concentrate the hairs along the centre of your brow to create definition. Again, you can also use concealer to hide the smaller hairs above and below your brow.

If you are unsure of how to shape your brows (we don’t blame you) book in a brow styling consult with one of our brow specialists. They will be able to offer advice as to what bra shape will best suit your facial features.
